Project Brief


The Metro Project Package 1 comprises the following two (2) Lines:
Line 1 (Blue Line) runs in the North-South direction along Olaya and Batha streets, starting from slightly north of Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Street and ending at Dar Al Badia neighbourhood in the south. The Metro will be mostly underground in a bored tunnel along Olaya and King Faisal Streets, and elevated on a viaduct along Batha Street and at the northern and southern ends. Line 1 extends over a length of approximately 38 Km and features 22 stations, in addition to 4 transfer stations with Lines 2, 3, 5, and 4&6.

Line 2 (Green Line) runs in the East-West direction along King Abdullah Road, between King Saud University and the Eastern Sub-Center, mostly on a raised strip in the median of the planned freeway. This Line extends over a length of about 25.3 Km and features 13 stations, in addition to 3 transfer stations with Lines 1, 5 and 6.
 
The project scope of work includes:
-Complementary studies
-Surveys and investigations (topography, geology, geotechnical, etc.)
-Detailed design activities
-Detailed construction planning and site Coordination activities
-Supply and installation of systems and equipment
-Construction works
-Testing activities
-Preparation of Operator's manuals and “As built Drawings”
-Assistance to the Operator during the trial runs
-Remedial activities during the Defects Liability Period
-Maintenance of the Transit System

The above activities shall cover Metro lines 1 & 2 with their associated facilities, This shall include but not limited to:
-Transportation sub-systems and facilities for each line, and any other facilities required for autonomous operation of each line
-Metro stations and accommodating structures (tunnels, bridges and underpasses, etc..)
-Induced permanent and temporary works resulting from the implementation of the six lines within their corridors, including:
*Utilities Diversions
*Road re-arrangement and traffic management
*Traffic safety devices and signage
*Streetscape / Landscape along the corridors
*Provision of necessary arrangements to ease pedestrian accessibility to the Metro stations, including but not limited to suitable and continuous walkways along the Metro corridors
-Park-and-Ride facilities, including the associated access roads
-Accurate demarcation definition of the land (Temporary & Permanently)
-Temporary traffic control during project implementation
