Project Brief

Construction of a 335m long Flyover and of 2 U-Turn bridges over the Arriyadh East Ring Road.
The project enabling work is the construction of the 2 U-turn bridges and retaining walls founded on piles, adjacently to the existing deck over the East Ring Road, which will decongest the Traffic of the East Ring Road, and carry part of the flyover construction works.
The main challenge is the construction of this flyover on top of the most busy highway of the capital, and for this purpose, the decision was made to design and erect a major steel frame over the highway, which will carry the construction operations. This will not eliminate the important traffic diversion scheme, and full time coordination with the police traffic department.
The second challenge of the construction is first of all the curved layout of the bridge, with a radius of curvature of 108 m, and the geometrical shape of the single box girder, which has an architecturally curved section.
The project will be completed by hradscaping and landscaping work.
